As they take turns drawing cards from the draw or discard pile, players try to use their hands to form legitimate sets or sequences. Three or four cards of the same rank make up a set, whereas three or more consecutive cards of the same suit make up a sematakagamequence. Royal Rummy is unique in that it places a strong focus on effectively melding cards. Taking into account the possible moves of their opponents, players must strategically choose when to lay down their melds. To add an additional layer of strategy, the game frequently has rules dictating how many melds must be laid down before a player can leave. In order to predict their opponents' moves and modify their strategies appropriately, players also need to monitor their opponents' draws and discards.
