Multiple rounds of play are involved in this game, with the winner being the first player to score a certain amount of points. Gin Rummy's "knocking" mechanic, which happens when a player thinks they have allazure deployment slots of their cards in sets and runs and no deadwood (unmatched cards) left, is one of the game's main characteristics. One last chance to lay down any sets and runs in their hand is given to the opposing player when they knock, after which they add up their scores. The knocking player wins the round & receives points according to the amount of their opponent's remaining deadwood if their count is less than theirs.
