A sense of excitement permeated the air as they got into character: Tom looking confident as he readied himself to take the lead, Lisa trying to understand the rules, Mike making lighthearted jokes to lighrummy all gameten the mood, and Sarah methodically planning her moves. Little did they know as they dealt the cards and started to play that a straightforward miscommunication would quickly cause a wave of confusion and laughter that would last long after the game was over. Every participant got more and more absorbed in their plans and techniques as the game went on. That mistake, though, happened in one crucial round.
