One of the most unique aspects of Pool Rummy that distinguishes it from other game variations is its scoring system. Players use the cards that are still in their hands after each round that haven't been melded to determisatakagne their scores. Each card has a distinct point value. For example, numbered cards (2–10) are worth their face value, face cards (Jacks, Queens, & Kings) are worth 10 points each, and depending on how they are used in sequence, aces can be worth 1 or 11 points. Players are encouraged by this scoring system to plan not only how to meld their own cards but also how to reduce the number of points they might lose if another player goes out.
