In the eighteenth century, Robert Clive—also referred to as Clive of India—was a well-known British military officer and colonial administrator. He was born in 1725 and became well-known for his part in giving thejackpot all British authority over a sizable portion of India. Clive started his career as an exceptional military and administrative skillset member of the East India Company. Clive played a key role in the establishment of British dominion in India when he led British forces to victory in the Battle of Plassey in 1757. Bengal was under British colonial rule after this victory, which also established British control over the area.
